Top Freezer Refrigerators

Top freezer are said to be the most popular among main types of refrigerators, mainly because they are the least expensive. Another main advantage of owning a top freezer refrigerator is the fact that they have the freezer on top. So, if you and your family tend to use the freezer a lot, this could work for you. However, it may be quite difficult for kids to reach items at the back of the freezer. Other than that, most models are heavy and bulky.

Bottom Freezer Fridges

The name basically says it all. Compared to the previous model, the bottom freezer fridge is designed with the freezer at the bottom and the fresh food section on top. Most of us would agree that it’s much easier to access the main part of the refrigerator (the fridge) now, because you don’t have to bend in order to reach it. However, a major disadvantage consists in the fact that there’s not a lot of storage space in the fresh food section.

Side-by-side Refrigerators

Side-by-side refrigerators are designed with the fridge on the right, and the freezer, left. Some models offer approximately an equal storage space for both the refrigerator and freezer. Side-by-side models are perfect for small kitchens because they don’t require a lot of space. In addition, the best side by side refrigerator units come with great features, such as a water and ice dispenser. Because they are somewhat narrow, they don’t offer a lot of storage space.

French Door Fridges

French door fridges are a combination between the bottom freezer refrigerator and the side-by-side models. So if you want the best out of both world, opt for this versatile unit. Most models offer plenty of storage space, including space for storing large platters and tall beverages. However, keep in mind that these models are also the most expensive. However, since they are so popular, these fridges are usually packed with a lot of convenience features. They are constantly improving and we have no doubt that the best 2016 fridge will probably be a french door model, with fancy features such as smartphone compatibility, touch screen controls and much more.

Counter Depth Refrigerators

What makes counter depth refrigerators so popular is the fact that they blend it with cupboards and built-in cabinets. You can also found many French door, side-by-side and even bottom freezer fridges available in this design. The main disadvantage is related to the costs of buying and installing a counter-depth refrigerator; they are generally very expensive.
